New Handheld ECG Designed for Young Athletes

One of the common reasons young athletes die from sudden cardiac arrest is because of some underlying heart problem that they did not know about.  Typically, a young athlete will not know they have a problem unless they receive some kind of screening for it and many school athletic programs do not require screening because of expense related issues.  The reason for this is because ECG equipment used in a Pre-Participation Exam (PPE) is not cheap and many high schools and even colleges cannot afford one.

Zoll X Series Saves a Life

Steve Smith was shopping at the Market Basket grocery store in Tilton, New Hampshire, when he suddenly collapsed before the checkout line.  A volunteer firefighter was also shopping in the store and went to see what was wrong.  When he saw that it was cardiac arrest he began CPR while store personal called 911.  Jon Powell, an off-duty firefighter was driving nearby and heard the call so he swung into the store and rushed to help the other rescuer.

Small Town EMS Receives Big Technology Upgrades Including Zoll X Series

In the upstate New York town of Wilton, the EMS decided to take their patient care to a higher level.  By February, Wilton EMS will be implementing Zoll’s RescueNet Link.  RescueNet Link lets the rescue squad plug in the cardiac monitor and while still on the road, send emergency room doctors electrocardiogram data, patient vital signs, and other medicine information.
